Special Olympics 2009

Today I went with Cully and his school to the Special Olympics at Furman University. It was a beautiful day, filled with smiles and laughter. Our school was the youngest of participants and the first to parade onto the football field. Usually we are there to watch Uncle Clay play Furman football, but not today, today was Cully’s day to parade on that great big field! The events were opened with several speakers two of which were also participants. It quickly became apparent to me just how much effort the athletes put into being there that day….things we take for granted so often…things like walking and singing are challenges for a great many of these athletes! When I heard a young lady courageously sing our national anthem, I could not help but re-think what the words “land of the free and the home of the brave” mean. Before, I always limited those words to a vision of brave soldiers at battle to keep us free, but today these athletes were the brave in the land of the free. I praise God that our special athletes had this opportunity to shine, not just as Special Olympians, but as courageous and free citizens made in the image of God himself! What a truly remarkable day!

Love,

Tresh

Please pray for the family of William Eschenbach

With great sadness I am asking you to pray for the family of William Eschenbach who past away last night. I am trying to be sensitive in how I word his passing and this is not an easy thing to say out loud or write about, but I truly believe his precious life was reclaimed last night by God, his creator. I say this with a heavy heart and ask that you all join me in prayer for this family who needs the support of their community and prayers…unceasing, diligent prayer. I would love to offer a candlelight vigil to offer prayer and support for this family. I am so sorry to report this and am trusting that God’s mighty hand of protection and strength be over this family and that this community can offer support in their time of need. As the mother of a four year old who is non-verbal and loves to play and explore, I encourage you all to remember how easily this can happen. Never assume that this could not happen to you. This is not the fault of this family. We must encourage and love them..pray for them and send the message of hope, grace,  mercy and forgiveness…this is the way of the Lord. God Bless this family, God Bless sweet little William and God bless this community who loved a child that so many, like myself, did not even know, except by the love of Christ. Love, The Crosby’s

PS- if anyone has a thought on a vigil or is interested, please email me at treshcrosby@hotmail.com

BIG NEWS TODAY for SC Medicaid!

Tresh Crosby

Hello everyone. So I know you all are pretty familiar by now with Obama’s stimulus package. Apparently, Governor Sanford has agreed to accept stimulus funds, but unfortunately South Carolina appears to be ineligible for medicaid stimulus funds due to the recent cuts they made to our state medicaid for the poor and/or disabled (our children’s therapies being one of those cutbacks) .

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009902240339

The good news is that South Carolina has the opportunity to now restore medicaid cuts, hopefully the therapy cuts, and then they can qualify to receive the medicaid stimulus funds.

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009902250359.

All of that to say, YOU ALL ARE AMAZING and grass roots works! You have joined us in prayer. You have written letters to your legislators. You have joined this cause which has given us strength in numbers. God will not let our disabled children down and has used each one of you to be a voice for a child….thousands of children….and guess what..God honored your passion and your faithfullness. Thank-you so much. We are SO close to getting our kids back the therapy services so they so need. But, all of this does come at a cost, but not a cost too great for our kids. Despite the outcome, how cool is it to be part of something bigger than ourselves, depending on God to lead us.

PLEASE join me in praying for our lawmakers, our president and our economy as we take on tremendous debts. Please pray for accountability and responsible use of funds to our state. Continue to pray for, get to know, love on your legislators. They NEED your help and prayer now more than ever as our nation takes on all this debt. Please continue to be a voice for what is right always remembering that KIND WORDS STICK LIKE HONEY, but harsh words tear down. Thanks everyone for your help in restoring therapy and never under estimate the power of your voice…Love, The Crosby’s

Ask for Tobacco Tax TODAY!!!!

If you have not done so, PLEASE contact your local house representatives IMMEDIATELY asking for the tobacco tax. If you visit http://www.scstatehouse.gov/ you will be able to get your personal house reps info…kindly urge them to create and approve a tobacco tax to help fund Tefra Medicaid for special needs children. The State House is in session as we speak. Thanks so much!!! I believe in my heart that this could be a blessing. Hopefully many would quit smoking as a result, and others will help fund our innocent children’s health through their choice to smoke. Thanks! Love, The Crosbys

State Rep. Rex Rice visits Crosswell Elementary after receiving letters about Cully’s Voice

Today, the principal of Crosswell Elementary school in Easley, SC pulled me aside to tell me that Rep. Rex Rice made a suprise visit to the children of Crosswell in response to letters they had written to him about Cully’s Voice. He was kind and informative and assured them that he received their letters and read every one of them. Way to go Crosswell Elementary Quest class! What fine young leaders you are! Never let anyone say you are too small to make a difference! Thank-you so much! Love, The Crosby Family
